The Club is Accrington’s leading girls football club providing football and social facilities to girls and ladies of all ages, creeds and abilities. The club provides opportunities for young people from the age of 6 to receive training from FA qualified coaches and to play in competitive leagues such as the Lancashire FA Girls league or the North Valley League.

Aims Of The Club

The aims of the club are to provide a safe and enjoyable platform for girls of all ages, creed or ability to improve their football skills and take parts in organised football competitions.

Whilst the club wants to instil a winning attitude,
It is not win at all costs.

The enjoyment of playing the game is the most important factor.

Winning is not everything
Wanting to win, is!

A Brief History

Accrington Ladies were formed in 1991 and included amongst their former players,

Rachel Brown who became England’s goalkeeper.

Accrington Girls Soccer Academy (AGSA) was founded in 2002 by a few enthusiastic and committed parents whose daughters wanted to play regular football.

The two clubs unofficially joined together,

to serve the interest of Women’s football in the Accrington area.

The teams formally merged in 2004 to create Accrington Girls & Ladies Football Club.

The former clubs kept their own identities under the combined banner.

Also in 2004 the club formed an ‘umbrella’ club with Accrington Amateurs, with a view to acquiring a long term lease for the ground on Livingstone Road.
This is called Accrington Sports & Football Club, and its remit is to look after everything connected with the ground.

In 2005 we were awarded with the honour of “Hyndburn Community Club of the Year for 2004” and narrowly missed out on becoming the Lancashire representative for the regional awards.
